Prepared for Creative Voyage Scholarship Application

Hello — my name is Colin. I am a photographer and image-maker. A local of Salcedo, Makati.

Currently, I am working as a part-time Brand Manager for a wine importer company called Bombvinos.
+ I am freelancing as a photographer, and an Instagram curator & planner for a fashion brand, and a meditation coach.

Allow me to show a few works I’ve done over the past year that I feel are milestones in my growth as an artist.

“Grounding”

“Grounding” is a body of work I created for a group exhibition last September 2023 for Tarzeer Gallery.

About the Work:

It’s 9 PM
The apartment is clean, I’ve showered
I’m sitting down and it’s quiet.

There’s so much stillness,
So much warmth.

How loud has it been?
How long has it been loud?

Grounding is for the warm silence we offer ourselves. A practice that teaches us to leave, expand, grow but always, come back home to ourselves again and again.

This circling motion is what I go back to when I need to find quiet. I call it my grounding practice. My sketchbook is filled with iterations of it. These drawings materialized here as photographs through capturing light.

Artist Dolly de Leon for Rank Magazine

I’ve had the privilege to shoot Dolly de Leon for Rank Magazine. She has the most expressive face and her movement commands the room. Definitely changed my life!

Fashion Designer Vania Romoff for Vogue Philippines

Last year was full of portraits by incredible woman — Vania Romoff pictured here for Vogue Philippines September 2023 issue.

My dear friend Mo — portraits for her book and podcast.
Had the chance to take a side trip to Toronto to do this shoot. I can still feel how lovely the whole experience was.

Wrapped up 2023 with this shoot.

I used to do self-portraiture as yearning for the person I want to be and this shoot has to be the first one that I felt whole.

That’s it from me — thank you for your time and I truly hope for your consideration.
In the meantime, I leave you with this video - “glimmer” if it was a visual.
